Karen Koroluk and her crew of several volunteers also helped in picking litter on Saturday, started at 9 AM and had already cleared from Riverside Drive west past the bridge by 10 AM. This allowed the Can It crew to concentrate on the Lillooet and Kieth Rd E areas.

A special thank you to Councilman Mike Little for turning out and helping the cause.

Altogether, we filled 1 2/3 dumpsters plus discarded gyproc, a bucket of broken glass and nearly 100 pounds of metals.

Thanks Kent LaCroix for all the great pictures.

Pickers were treated to Tim Hortons Coffee and Donuts at the start and a Panago pizza and refreshments for lunch.

Stop Litter: Can It!!

North Vancouver and District Litter Reduction and Pick-up Program!

Nestled in the mountains of the North Shore, North Vancouver and District are the most spectacular and scenic of all the cities that make up Greater Vancouver. A little community pride in this beautiful place we call home can help make North Vancouver and District look even better - close up.

Litter is a detraction visually and a denigration socially, help put an end to this eyesore.

North Vancouver garbage and litter

Registration for Can It!! Clean Up the Litter in North Vancouver is underway.

Join the team! This is our inaugural campaign. The annual city-wide cleanup program is scheduled for late April. Let’s keep litter pick-up a year round event. North Vancouver residents and business people can volunteer their time to make our city an even better place to live and work. With your participation we can remove tons of litter from North Vancouver’s and District streets, lanes and shorelines.

Vancouver city’s Keep Vancouver Spectacular set a volunteer record in 2008. During the month of May, over 15,800 volunteers in 146 groups filled 7,000 garbage bags with litter. North Vancouver and the District of North Vancouver is poised to do even better. The job of keeping our City looking clean and beautiful is a year-long challenge. Whatever the season, if you want to organize a neighbourhood cleanup, we are here to help. See our page of  Clean Up Events.

Stop Litter:  Can It!!

A litter-free clean neighborhood encourages and increases property values, and contributes to public safety and order which adds to a better quality of life and healthier environment.

We need to promote partnership, working together and individual responsibility to make this all happen. Will you help control litter where you live? Are you able to give a few hours once a week, once a month to make your area, your block, your street, litter free?
